The acacias are all flowering here in South Aust, the bees are breeding well on the pollen and they're getting plenty of nectar too from other flowers. Our hives are in various areas, and some of them are ready for harvesting, so that's what we'll be doing on the next fine and warm day. After T-shirt weather for a few days, we're back to winter today, with the fires lit to keep warm, but a warm day is forecast on the weekend. We've only just run out of honey for sale.!Jembella Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07646075804716647311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9027191706980748713.post-87728626011517429202017-08-28T15:26:04.832+10:002017-08-28T15:26:04.832+10:00Great update on your pot garden. A trick I like to use when my potting soil gets too dry however, is to sit them in a bucket of water for 20 minutes. The water should cover the soil completely.

This re-hydrates the potting mix, and I've found no better way to do it. This is how I revitalise, a very sad plant. If you've got a lot of pots to soak, use a few buckets. Otherwise it will take you all day.Chris https://www.blogger.com/profile/13715819899708384147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9027191706980748713.post-90725683657248303042017-08-28T09:51:39.432+10:002017-08-28T09:51:39.432+10:00The best way to keep the water where you want it w...The best way to keep the water where you want it would be to keep a big shallow tray under the pots and slightly tilt it so the moisture loving plants are at the bottom end and the ones that like to drain are at the top end.
Not sure how difficult it would be to weld up some metal trays big enough to fit a dozen or two pots. As always, it is a compromise. Clea...Yes, I know. As always, it is a compromise. Cleaning this way reduces cleaning chemicals (like detergents, bleach, whatever is in glass cleaner etc) and disposables (wipes, papertowels, mop heads etc), but every time I wash the cloths, they will loose some microfibres into the septic tank (which eventually gets pumped out and taken to the local sewage treatment plant). As I do still own clothes with synthetic fibres, I would say overall I generate more microfibres just from washing clothes, although I do take your point that we should be aiming to reduce the amount of synthetic fibres to be washed. I will add that I also continue to use cloths make from cutting up old towels (cotton) instead of papertowels and that has been an ongoing success. On balance, for me, I think this is the best system, but might not work for other people.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12874273438983052621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9027191706980748713.post-6528958062255741202017-08-01T08:07:46.762+10:002017-08-01T08:07:46.762+10:00Environmental impact of microfibres ???Environmental impact of microfibres ???MargaretPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12990336317308988689noreply@blogger.com
