January has been a month of extremes! We had a week of 35degC temperatures, dry and hot, the grass was starting to frizzle.....and then in the last few days we have had over 100 mL of rain! Tanks are full, the dam is full, the garden is going crazy again. And we are having flash backs to
this time last year.
Sorry I keep changing my comments form, I thought I was improving it, but the new one was terrible, I lost all those comments, so I'll just leave it alone now, promise!

ReplyDeleteI love a parade of pictures. It's funny though, we have a saying "in QLD if you put a stick in the ground, it will start growing" but I guess you face just as many growing dilemmas as the rest of us. I think everyone is in for a big mildew year. A lot of people in Tas have been unprepared for our week of 35-40C days and no rain for nearly 2months. All their tomatoes have really frizzled, dried and suffered.
ReplyDeleteThose button squash are pretty looking - like flowers. What do you do with them?
ReplyDeleteYes, I love the shade cloth! It really helps plants to survive on a hot day.
ReplyDeleteMildew gets me every year as soon as it rains (and the humidity makes me wilt too!).
The button squash are pretty! They taste like zucchini. The large one had got to hard, I just picked out the seeds and gave it to the chooks. I've got to try and find them before they get so big!
Looking good, I have had the problem of finding squash too late and it isn't a total loss we use them as fillers in curry, stew and soups.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had too much mildew on the zuchs or cucumbers bit strange as we live in the same general area.
I've got to get some manure in so I can at least feed the garden before putting in winter crops.
